GTB gets called fairly frequently to fix PCs where bad software has been installed accidentally. The offiending software is seldom a virus because the AntiVirus programs are doing their job well, but things like Ask toolbar, other more malicious browser hijackers, and so on.
This raises the question “can’t we just lock the PC down so nothing bad goes on it?”
Locking down is quite tricky, time-consuming and costly to set up and to maintain OR locks down the PC so tightly that clients very quickly decide they’d rather run the risk.
We recommend the first line of defence is the person using the computer taking a moment’s thought before “clicking here” or before saying “yes” to anything their computer asks them to do. GTB can provide quick, effective tutorials and guidance for your team so everyone’s aware of the risks and how to handle them.
If your organisation or any particular PCs need more protection, talk to us about whether a full lockdown option will work for you.
P.S. – “PC” here means any Personal Computer: Windows, Mac, iOS or Android device.
